About

Plastic is the main polluter of our Seas and Oceans but the textile and fishing industries are the main source of litter on the UK coasts, with textiles, rope and small nets the main cause.

My work is created using a combination of traditional textile techniques with embellished items. I’ve collected from the coastline of the Isle of Sheppey to transform them into underwater landscapes inspired by coral reefs and crocheted shells indigenous to the UK.

I take fast fashion items and turn them into unique ethical slow fashion wearable pieces of art.

I adorn them with a variety of traditional heritage textile techniques with salvaged sea items including textiles, fishing wire, plastic and sea glass to transform them into underwater landscapes inspired by coral reefs.

I crochet whelk shell inspired accessories using a variety of materials from waste yarn, plarn, washed up fishing rope, nets and fishing line. Plarn is created by cutting plastic bags into loops and joining them together into a continuous strip to make a yarn material that is surprisingly strong and versatile.
